We would like to share with you a message from a North Korean defector who received medical support through NKHR’s emergency aid program.
Last month, the patient underwent a successful surgery. The cost of the procedure was 3.76 million KRW,
and thanks to your generous support, we were able to cover it in full.
This person, who had suffered from poor health due to malnutrition and harsh living conditions in North Korea,
had endured great pain for years but could not afford treatment.
When NKHR learned about the situation, we immediately arranged for medical assistance.
Now, the surgery has been completed, and recovery is underway.
The patient expressed deep gratitude, saying that without your help, survival would have been impossible.

Hello,
I came to South Korea in 2016 with my three-year-old daughter.
Life here was not easy at first, but I have been doing my best to adapt.
A few months ago, I suddenly became very sick.
I was terrified because I had no one to rely on and didn’t know how I would pay for treatment.
Then, through NKHR’s help and the warm support of many people, I was able to receive surgery.
Now I am recovering day by day, and I want to live as a person who shares the love I have received.
